Child Development 3
This course is available to 11 & 12th graders. Students must have taken Child's World and earned a C or better, have an application on file and have instructor approval in order to enroll in the course. This course is designed as a continuation of Child's World for students who are interested in gaining skills and knowledge necessary to aid in the growth and development of children ages three to five years old. Students gain the knowledge and professional qualities necessary for entry level employment and/or advancement in early childhood education fields. A community preschool is operated as a learning lab by the teacher from October through June. Child Services students assist in the interactions with and the teaching of the children enrolled in the program in order to give the students real life experiences dealing with developmental patterns, health care, and interactions of the child family & friends.
This course is a part of the articulation agreement with Portland Community College (PCC). In order for students to earn the ECE 132 Field Study credit they must take and successful complete the learning targets for both Child Services 1 & 2.
